Making Time for What Matters : The Designer's Invitation
This space is a lounge where you can take a break-perhaps with a cup of tea- and open this invitation to connect, to reflect, to question.
The most important craft today is our ability to make choices, especially if we have far too little time to live the life we ideally strive for. As both a designer and consumer, I see a gap between what the 'market' suggests I do and how my inner compass works. The choices I align with only work when paired with the right questions:
What changes if we make time for what truly matters to us?
How do we stay true to ourselves in a system that rewards the fast path?
How can we aim for quality within financial limits?
Where do we belong if we have society as whole at heart?
What do these questions have to do with clothing? I would shift the perspective: what could clothing become if we considered it alongside these questions?
This complexity gives me the freedom to ignore the path prescribed by an industry still operating on 19th- and 20th-century values. And that brings another set of questions in mind. The world clearly doesn't need yet another brand that contributes to exploiting our planetary and human resources. So how can we contribute to the human core of our textile heritage by taking care of our protective boundaries? I invite you to take a break and imagine it with me along the way.
Warm welcome,
